Nangga Mum,

Nangga Nina? That’s warndu-utya. Yesterday morning, while I was walking, I saw a indhi-indhirri flying about the shop. They say it brings bad luck to your family sometimes, their nickname is the “Bad luck messengers!”. I had stayed there to talk to some friends in the online before they went to school. I had also stayed to get some food for brekky and fruit for the family.

Let no one tell you that preparing for permanent travel is easy!
After a few very busy days our house is looking a tad empty and very messy. Charlotte was devastated when her table, aka our dining table, was picked up today but I was very thankful for the kindness of the eldest daughter from the family who bought it. She told Charlotte they would take care of the table and she would eat her breakfast at it while Charlotte travels. That did the trick and she went off to play with Bonnie, another beautiful girl from the family of 8 who will go on to make many more memories at the ‘Family Table’
We have met some lovely people during our sales and hopefully some of them will follow our journey. I really need to follow Adens lead and get some contact cards made up……where are my minions when I need them!
We still have a few big items and 2 cars to sell but we are keeping our heads and look forward to this time next week when we will be just about to take off for New Zealand.

It’s my birthday and I’ll rant if I want to (Part 1)

How many times have you heard the statement “one day…” or “when I retire…”? Why do we live our lives as though there is a tomorrow? Is it a human condition to be optimistic that future plans will be realised, regardless of life getting in the way? I have spent the last few years coming to the realisation that it doesn’t matter how much we wish, there is no reality that materialises from our subconscious. We literally spend our time, wishing for something different than the reality we live, without taking action to make it happen. Well forgive me for being rude, but that’s bullshit.

This week we said Farewell to our trusty offroad trailer. He started out life as a camper trailer but after a stormy night at Tantanoola, SA during which they received the most rain they had in 10 years and gale force winds we spent 3 hours trying

to pack it up the following day!

So once we arrived at my dear friends house (Hi Clare!) in Adelaide he was deconstructed (aka the tent was ripped off) and the lovely folks at Cameron Canvas made us a custom frame to fit our gear and mattress with a water and dustproof cover.

Since then he has served us well, absolutely nothing has needed work except the taillights and now he has gone to a new family.

We hope he enjoys his new life on the prospecting road!

I know I should be staying up till all hours of the morning but that just wont work in my 6 1/2 month pregnant state so I am skipping out early but not before I leave a taste of what is to come…..trees, landscapes, trees, buildings, trees, children, trees and more trees. Seriously I obviously have a thing about trees, they received more of my attention than Uluru did blush

We received the paperwork from the bank today. The broker did say it was stupendously simple and he was right but the excitement was spoilt by needing 2 stat decs, with the amount of paperwork we have done over the past few years we would love to live next to a JP!!

So we will impatiently wait through the public holiday tomorrow and return them on Friday yippee

The girls had their basketball presentation this afternoon and although they had fun it made me realize how much I will miss their school and the friends and support we have there. I feel a great debt of gratitude to their coach who through the simple power of fun and respect lifted their self esteem, gave them goals, taught them team work and most importantly made them smile and laugh! You rock with awesomeness Coach Pete xoxo
